Form

I sætninger med type 2 konditionalis kan man bruge den udvidede form af præsens konditionalis.

If bisætning (betingelse)	Hovedsætning (resultat)
If + præteritum (simple past)	udvidet præsens konditionalis (present continuous conditional)
If this thing happened	that thing would be happening.

Funktion

Denne form er almindelig i sætninger med type 2 konditionalis. Den udtrykker en uafsluttet eller fortsat handling eller situation, som er det sandsynlige resultat af en uvirkelig tilstand.

Eksempler

I would be working in Italy if I spoke Italian. (But I don't speak Italian, so I am not working in Italy)
She wouldn't be living with Jack if she lived with her parents. (But she is living with Jack and not with her parents).
You wouldn't be smiling if you knew the truth. (But you are smiling because you don't know the truth.)

Udvidet præsens konditionalis (present continuous conditional)

Alle udsagnsord i udvidet præsens konditionalis består af tre elementer:
would + be + lang tillægsform
Lang tillægsform dannes ved at tilføje -ing endelsen til udsagnsordets stamme.
